Owner Kristen Tucker
has been an aesthetician for over 10 years and has a passion
for all types of skin care and concerns. Originally trained
and licensed in Florida, Kristen is known for giving treatments
that are both exceptionally relaxing and clinically beneficial
so the client is almost always able to see immediate results.
Catering to each client’s specific skin care needs is
Kristen’s specialty. While working in Florida she was
able to help many clients with skin that was environmentally
damaged due to excessive sun exposure. Now licensed in Maine
and consistently taking advanced skin care training workshops,
Kristen is able to help treat a wide variety of skin conditions
such as rosacea, acne and aging. Kristen has consulted on
opening several luxury spas such the Bonita Springs Hyatt
Regency and the Bonita Bay Country Club and Spa where she
worked as a skin care specialist for over seven years. Kristen’s
hobbies include all aspects of fitness and health. Living
a well-balanced life, traveling the world and continually
gaining knowledge in new beauty treatments are her passions.
Natasha Watson, is
joining our team this year as our manager. She has been involved
with other local businesses as a manager for the past eight
years. She is an MDI native, whose relatives date back to
the founding of Somesville, the first village on MDI. She
graduated from the University of Maine with degrees in science
education and marine biology. She enjoys testing her own beliefs
and boundaries set by traditional science paradigms and loves
learning about alternative forms of healthy living.
Kristin Holley is one
of Bella's own aestheticians and Master makeup artists, highly
trained in all aspects of skin health. She has been passionately
practicing healing arts for 11 years. In addition to being
an IET practitioner, she is a certified Reiki Master, a certified
Feng Shui consultant and holds a masters degree in social
work. Kristin integrates eastern and western philosophies
and uses the strengths of each discipline to energize and
empower her clients.
Dorothy Goett, has
been Bella’s Master colorist for the last two years.
Prior to that, she spent 11 years working with an Aveda Salon
as a manager and as a hair color educator. Her philosophy
is that today's fashion should influence, not dictate hair
styling and color choices. She feels that her background education
in both fine arts and advanced hair color techniques is a
perfect balance. It enables her to work with an individual's
facial shape and skin tone through the use of hair color to
create a hair style for any fashion. She continues to expand
her knowledge by taking classes from the industry's best in
New York, Toronto and Los Angeles.
Diane Perko,
hair stylist, has built her career on listening to her clients'
needs and forming a basis of trust that brings them back time
and time again. Diane’s technique is from the Sasson
era of precision cutting and she has continued her education
by attending Martin Parson’s School of Hair Design in
Toronto, Canada, two times. It was here where she perfected
the art of analyzing facial structure and recommending the
most flattering style for each client. Diane comes to Bella
from Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, where she and her sister owned
the very successful hair salon, CLIPSO.
Jennifer Munyer is
one of our massage therapists whose focus is on personal awareness
and realization through bodywork. She holds the belief that
all emotional experiences are stored in the body’s musculature,
and that by working to find more comfort in the body, these
past emotional experiences can be transformed, allowing the
client to deeply heal old wounds and move towards a holistic
perspective of their life. She was licensed and trained in
Gainesville, Florida in therapeutic modalities such as Swedish,
Connective (deep) Tissue, Neuromuscular, Sports, and Polarity
Therapy. She also received training in the first level of
Hugh Milne’s Visionary Cranial Sacral Therapy. Jen’s
style of training is unique to this part of the country; she
offers mindful, conscious touch to each client she works with.
Massage is another way of helping a person increase their
inner sense of awareness, which can lead to a more full understanding
and acceptance of self. As opposed to forming her own agenda
for the session, Jen allows her client’s body to lead
her to the places it is holding tension, and then listens
to the client’s body for how it would like to release.
Her training also includes several years of yoga, meditation
and breath work and more recently she has been training with
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. She combines her knowledge of
the anatomic and energetic bodies to create a well-balanced,
client-centered session.
Heather "Siri" Temple is a
longtime student of Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation, and has studied with some of the world’s
most highly regarded scholars and practitioners. Siri’s
academic work at India’s Jiva College of Ayurveda and
yogic studies with notables such as Yogi Bhajan, Gurmukh,
Krishna Das, Shiva Rae, and Sharon Gannon provide for a broad
base of experience in the Vedic Sciences. She has also deepened
her clinical Ayurvedic academia by taking instruction with
Dr. David Frawley through the Institute of Vedic Sciences
in New Mexico and receiving training from the Ayurveda Healing
Arts Institute in California, where she became a member of
both the American Herbalists Guild and the American Institute
for Integrative Medicine. In addition to being a local Kundalini
Yoga instructor, Siri also owns and directs Lotus Living Arts
Ayurvedic and Yogic Health Center in Ellsworth, Maine. She
also enjoys a simple life on an organic homestead with her
husband and two children.
Jennifer Rau “Jra”, originally
from New York, first discovered MDI by sailing north after
having graduated from the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville
in 2002. Her main focus through massage is deep connective
tissue and sports massage therapy, combining injury and evaluation
along with breath work. She is trained in Neuromuscular Therapy
(NMT). She believes it is important to maintain a healthy
balanced lifestyle and to stay as active as possible. By being
a competitive athlete through life, she trusts she can better
understand the kinesiology of body mechanics and the physical
stress the body may endure on a daily basis. She has not only
worked with Olympic athletes, but also those who are just
searching for simple relaxation. She enjoys working with her
clients, allowing them to create their own individualized
session depending on their needs. When not seeing clients
in Maine, she can usually be found surfing in the warm waters
of exotic places, finding peace and inspiration through her
art or just hiking with her dog Lucy.
Nita Rippere, head nail
technician, is a senior member of the Bella team. After earning
her license in California, Nita mastered her skills while
working at the Ritz Carleton in Naples, Florida. She continues
to spend her winters in Naples but looks forward to spending
the summers at her home in Maine.
Paul Weiss, teacher, poet and therapist,
has directed The Whole Health Center in Bar Harbor since 1981,
where he counsels with individuals, couples and groups, and
leads many retreats and workshops. His True Heart/True Mind
Intensive is a transformative four-day residential journey
of self-awakening that integrates meditation and communication
processes, and draws people from all over the world. Paul
began his training in zen meditation and tai chi in 1966 and
has continued his spiritual study over the course of many
trips to India and to China, where he was certified to teach
by three different schools of qi gong. Paul also leads qi
gong study and travel tours to China.
Sarah Codraro, Bella's concierge, is a born
native of Mount Desert Island and grew up with true appreciation
of her natural surroundings. A double major in studio art
and political science at Bates college, Sarah has come to
understand the inherent value of health and well-being of
both mind and body. Her desire to help others improve their
body image and confidence through activities and rituals that
fulfill them is integrated into the healing Bella atmosphere.
When not working at Bella, Sarah can be found enjoying the
outdoors and volunteering in her community.
